Rory Nisan grew up in Brant Hills, went to Lester B. Pearson High School, and is raising his own family in the community that shaped him. He understands what Burlington means to the people who call it home. Rory is running for Mayor to make sure that the promise of Burlington is in reach for everyone.
Before being elected as the Ward 3 Councillor in 2018, he served Canada as a foreign service officer, negotiating human rights resolutions at the United Nations and leading strategic communications at Canada's delegation to NATO along with numerous other roles in Ottawa.
Over eight years on council, Rory has been the consistent voice for fiscal accountability. He has voted against three consecutive budgets driven by irresponsible spending. He stood alone to stop a five-figure council bonus taken from taxpayer funds. He led the fight to stop a $41 million development charge giveaway. Rory is Chair of the Ontario Caucus of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, fighting for more funding for Burlington and Halton. He is also Chair of the Conservation Halton Foundation, where he ensures Conservation Halton's park system is maintained and upgraded for the enjoyment of Burlington's residents.
Rory is running for Mayor on three pillars: Fiscal Responsibility, Affordability, and Quality of Life. His vision is a Burlington where every dollar works for residents, families can get ahead, and no one gets left behind.
